TANGO BALLET AU.
Finding inspiration and building community.
Tango Ballet AU was born from the desire to provide a unique type of training to individuals interested in the world of Argentine Tango. To establish a community of like-minded people to learn the very best techniques from around the globe.
This project starts in the last quarter of 2023 and promises to continue for many more years

The Tango Ballet project, directed by international dancer and choreographer Leonardo Guerrero, is collaborating with Juan Rando Dance Academy (JRDA) to offer a unique choreographic experience for dance students. This partnership provides a significant opportunity for aspiring Argentine Tango dancers in Perth.
Tango Ballet: A Pathway to the Stage
Tango Ballet, led by Leonardo Guerrero, a dancer with a degree in Tango from the University of Buenos Aires, focuses on specialized training in Argentine Tango. The project aims to:
-
Train dancers to a professional level in Argentine Tango.
-
Prepare them for stage performances.
-
Welcome individuals of various dance backgrounds, emphasizing commitment, growth, and enjoyment over prior experience.
Juan Rando Dance Academy's Contribution

Juan Rando Dance Academy, as one of Australia's longest-running and largest vernacular dance academies, plays a crucial role in this collaboration by:

-
Providing its facilities: JRDA offers a dedicated space for Tango Ballet rehearsals and training, including air-conditioned studios with sprung wood floors.
-
Lending its expertise: With a deep passion and commitment to teaching dance since 1995, JRDA's experienced staff, many of whom are full-time teachers with decades of knowledge, contribute to the high technical standard of the program. Juan Rando himself has a strong background in Argentine Tango, having studied it extensively in Argentina and the USA before establishing the academy's Tango program in 1998.
-
Offering logistical support: JRDA's established infrastructure and community presence streamline the operational aspects of the Tango Ballet project.
-
Enhancing student opportunities: This partnership allows JRDA students to gain valuable choreographic experience, broadening their dance education beyond regular classes and giving them the chance to participate in a stage-oriented project.

This collaboration brings together Tango Ballet's specialized focus on performance-oriented Argentine Tango training with JRDA's extensive resources and long-standing dedication to dance education, creating a comprehensive and enriching experience for dancers.
