Damiano Ciranna

Damiano Ciranna was born in Fossano, Italy to a very musical family, his dad, Fortunato Ciranna playing classical Guitar and his mother, Anna Ciranna a singer in a local band in Italy.

As you can see Damiano was born to entertain. He started singing and playing the classical Guitar at the early age of 7½ years old where his mum and dad also had a strong influence in starting his Martial Arts liking with his inspiration being Bruce Lee.

Damiano started ballroom dancing at the age of 11 and by the age of 13 Damiano’s parents then decided to take on a new adventure by moving to Australia.

This move started Damiano’s found passion for the entertainment industry.

Whilst in Australia, Damiano started competitive Ballroom Dancing, which he then won his first Title as the “Australian Champion Youth Representative“ for 2 years in a row at the World Championship in Germany in 1990 at the age of 16.

He competed in Blackpool, England for the “Youth under 21 Latin/Ballroom Championship“, which he was placed for the first year 7th in the Latin and 8th in the Ballroom in 1992.

Soon after he was invited as a special guest in “That’s Dancing“ Live, travelling around Australia as a Latin Performer.

As a Youth, Damiano won every Title in Australia and abroad. Ballroom Dancing took Damiano world wide, where he won the Canadian Open, French Open, World Cup, Italian Open Representative to the World Latin Championship as well as winning a dance champion competition on National Television in Italy called “Campioni Di Ballo“ (Champions of Dance).

Damiano was invited at the 2004 World Salsa Congress held in New York, Los Angeles and Paris where he was mentored by some of the Top Teachers in the World, one of Damiano’s inspirations being Eddie Torres (“The King of Mambo”).

Damiano has also trained with some of the best teachers in the world in many forms of dance including Spanish Dancing, Ballet, Ballroom Dancing and Authentic Latin Dancing that includes Mambo, Salsa, Meringue, Afro Cuban Cha Cha Cha and many more styles, which Damiano has been accustomed to through his childhood upbringing.

Damiano has a driving passion for music being classically trained vocally for 10 years with such inspirational idols as Luis Miguel, Jose Feliciano, Juan Gabriel, Tito Rodriguez, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Marc Anthony, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jnr, Harry Conick Jnr, Michael Buble to mention a few. Damiano formed a Latin Band called Café Latino on New Years Eve 2004 for a Latin Festival where Damiano sang various Latin/Jazz songs. Look out for Damiano and his band in 2005 playing Latin/Swing around Perth.

To Date Damiano was invited as the Artistic Director of The Latin American Cultural Association in Western Australia, Perth where his duties include mentoring and creating a feel of the true Latin American Dance. This role allows Damiano to choreograph the dancing for two major events that are held yearly being the Winter Carnival in June and the Latin Extravaganza held in November. Damiano will take you back to the origins of each Latin Dance shown starting from Argentina, Columbia, Cuba, Mexico, Brasil and much more.
